A cornerstone
of Waimea food production

‘Old Factory Corner’ was inspired by the old cheese factory building, which was originally housed the Waimea Co-Operative Dairy Company in 1915. At the time, they were the original producers of our region’s cheese and dairy products. The building still exists today and its distinctive gable ends and steep pitches set the precedent for the architectural design of the new complex.

The new complex will evolve through a number of build phases over the coming years, which will ultimately include two hospitality spaces and up to eight retail spaces. Additionally, visitors will be able to enjoy any of the three outdoor dining areas, the children’s play area and the outdoor fireplace. Conning’s Food Market is the first completed building in the complex, with the first hospitality building planned for completion in 2020.
